Watson Appreciation Post 🐕 (leave a comment!)
Watson is my dog and my best friend. He has the gentlest and most beautiful soul I’ve ever encountered. This post contains a biography, musings on dogs, and cute Watson photos. If you support the boy, leave a comment!
Watson was born February 2, 2014 in Cobden, Ontario. He is currently 11 years old. I found Watson from a Kijiji Ad. His Mom, a Great Pyrenees–Border Collie mix named Oreo, was an outdoor farm dog. Watson’s Dad, a purebred Golden Retriever named Farley, lived on the adjacent farm. Watson was born in a barn, surrounded by small cows and sheep on a hobby farm (in a manger?). He had never set foot indoors until we brought him home. Luckily, he was well-socialized through daily play with four young girls, his aunt, and his seven siblings.
I am beyond blessed to have had—and still have—this steadfast companion by my side through so many important years of my life. I got Watson when I was 18, during a gap year after graduating high school.
My love of dogs is boundless and Watson is the one I love the most. Dogs are beautiful, soulful, spiritual…transcendent even. They are, without a doubt, the greatest thing humanity has ever created.
Watson is gentle, sensitive, self-assured, intelligent, and a touch independent. I’m not exaggerating: I’ve never detected, not even for a fleeting moment, a hint of malice, jealousy, anger, or aggression in Watson. He is angelic. He’s a massive dog; tall, thin, and fluffy. It’s impossible to impart his majesty with words, so I’ve included photos, in roughly-chronological order. I’ve also embedded a video montage of his formative (and my formative) years and a special Christmas video I made many years back.
